Editorial and Advisory Board
Editorial Board Structure
The journal Yayın Araştırmaları: Kültürel Miras ve Bilim is managed by an Editorial Board. The board consists of an Editor-in-Chief, a Managing Editor, and 5–7 Disciplinary Editors representing key subject areas: Library Science, Archive Management, Museum and Collections Management, Digital Humanities, and Cultural Heritage Practice. Each Disciplinary Editor oversees a panel of 3–5 expert reviewers. The board's total membership is designed to reach 40 members; current composition ranges from 30–40.
Editorial Board Selection and Criteria
Disciplinary Editors are selected from researchers with at least 10 years of active research experience in their fields and demonstrable publication records in peer-reviewed journals or book series. Candidates are evaluated on scholarly output and review experience rather than academic rank (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor). Editors must demonstrate commitment to fair decision-making, conflict-of-interest management, and publishing ethics. Candidates are vetted by the Editorial Board and appointed by the Managing Director of Nasirus Publications.
Term of Service and Reappointment
Editorial Board members serve three-year terms. At term end, members may be reappointed for one additional three-year term based on Editorial Board and publisher evaluation. After two consecutive six-year terms, a structured knowledge-transfer process begins, and the member steps down. New members receive an orientation session upon joining the board.
Conflict-of-Interest Declaration and Confidentiality
Board members must immediately notify the editor of institutional, financial, or personal relationships with manuscript authors. When a conflict is identified, the editor removes the member from that evaluation. Each year, board members sign a written conflict-of-interest statement. All peer evaluations remain confidential; board members do not disclose process information to anyone prior to editorial decision.
Board Meetings and Decision-Making
The Editorial Board convenes twice annually in person (in Ankara) and four times annually online. Meetings address journal operations, upcoming special issue themes, evaluation procedures, and ethical conflicts. Decisions are made by simple majority (>50%) among present members. A member may declare abstention; abstentions are not counted in quorum calculations. Governance decisions are documented in meeting minutes and summarized publicly on the journal's website to foster transparency.
Disciplinary Editor Responsibilities
Each Disciplinary Editor reviews assigned submissions, selects peer reviewers, ensures timely reviewer feedback, and compiles evaluation data. The Disciplinary Editor verifies data quality and fairness within their subject area and provides an initial recommendation for acceptance or rejection. The Managing Editor reviews the Disciplinary Editor's recommendation and issues the final decision.
Advisory Board and International Partnerships
The journal maintains an Advisory Board (Danışma Kurulu). Advisory Board members bring international prominence and scholarly guidance but do not participate in editorial decisions. They advise on emerging topics, potential special issues, and manuscript suggestions. The Advisory Board strengthens the journal's international collaborations and visibility.
Public Transparency
The journal's website lists all Editorial Board members by name, title, and institutional affiliation. Advisory Board members are likewise publicly identified. Readers may contact editors directly; email addresses are provided for all parties.
