Accessibility Statement
Accessibility Standards and Conformance Goal
Nasirus Publications is committed to making its website and published content conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This standard ensures that individuals with disabilities—including physical disabilities, visual impairment, hearing impairment, and cognitive disabilities—can access the site and content. The conformance goal is full WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance by the end of 2027.
Current Conformance Status
The Nasirus Publications website has achieved the following WCAG 2.1 Level AA milestones:
- Color Contrast: All text and graphics maintain at least 4.5:1 contrast between text and background. Large text (18pt or larger) maintains a minimum 3:1 contrast ratio.
- Heading Hierarchy and Structure: Page headings (H1, H2, H3) are correctly ordered and logically structured. Screen reader users can navigate page structure easily.
- Image Alt Text: Images, diagrams, and graphics are accompanied by alternative text (alt text) that clearly describes content and purpose.
- Link Text: All links are labeled with descriptive text. Vague phrases are replaced with clear descriptions.
- Multimedia and Video: All video and audio files include captions and transcriptions.
Known Limitations
The following areas have not yet achieved full conformance and are under ongoing development:
- PDF Documents: Older PDF files (published before 2024) may not be fully tagged for accessibility. All newly published PDFs are prepared in accessible PDF/A format.
- External Links: Links to third-party sites (e.g., library catalogs, academic databases) are beyond the publisher's control, and accessibility conformance is not guaranteed.
- Real-Time Translation: Machine translation tools are not yet fully integrated; some content in foreign languages may have limited accessibility. Manual translation services are under development.
Accessible Format Requests
Readers may request accessible content in their preferred format:
- Large-Print PDF (18pt+): Books and articles can be supplied in 18-point font or larger for readers who benefit from magnified text.
- EPUB File: EPUB 3–compatible format for e-readers and portable devices.
- Screen-Reader Compatible Text: Text files fully compatible with Jaws, NVDA, VoiceOver, and similar screen readers. Mathematical equations are provided in MathML format or with written explanation.
- HTML Version: Books and articles are published in an easily accessible HTML version viewable in web browsers.
Requests for accessible formats should be submitted in writing to [email protected]. After processing, the requested format is provided within 10 working days.
Typography and Visual Design
The Nasirus website and publications offer dyslexia-friendly fonts (e.g., OpenDyslexic, Lexie Readable) and standard sans-serif options. Readers can change fonts through browser settings or site preferences. References, images, and diagrams are designed with clear contrast and readable layout.
Navigation and Interaction
Site navigation is fully keyboard-accessible. The Tab key, Enter key, and arrow keys permit access to all page elements. For mouse users, all links and buttons are marked with clear visual or audio indicators. Menus and sidebars are structured for screen reader compatibility.
Accessibility Audits and Improvement Process
Nasirus Publications publishes an independent accessibility audit report every six months. Audits are conducted with automated tools (WAVE, Axe, Lighthouse) and human reviewers. Identified issues are classified by root cause and prioritized for remediation.
Feedback and Resolution Timeline
Readers are encouraged to report accessibility issues to [email protected] or the corporate helpline (+90 312 000 2026). Feedback is acknowledged within 3 working days, and preliminary assessment is completed within 10 working days. Confirmed issues are prioritized by severity and addressed within 30 days. If a critical accessibility barrier is identified, a temporary workaround or alternative access method is offered in writing.
