Bilim Hakkında Konuşmak: Krizi Zamanında Halk Güveni (e-kitap)
This publication is open access; the full text is available.
As the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated, climate change crises deepened, and misinformation proliferated across social media platforms, public trust in scientists and science communicators has declined. This book examines failures in public science communication regarding health, climate, and environmental sciences through frameworks of social psychology, public relations, and risk communication theory. The research is grounded in 18 months of survey and in-depth interview data from 650 participants across Turkey. The study demonstrates that effective science communication requires far more than accurate translation of technical information; it demands careful attention to social context, cultural values, trust relationships, and institutional legitimacy. The book offers practical strategies for scientists and communicators seeking to rebuild public confidence during crisis.
